Valentino X Goop: Wonder Woman

The Valentino Super H and Star-Studded Collections are now in stores. Suddenly our tax returns don't look that impressive.

I previously blogged about The Star Studded capsule collection, a Wonder Woman inspired collab with Spider Gwen Paltrow's obscenely indulgent Goop Market pop-up. Well, everyone is now welcome to shop the full line, which includes a few extra pieces like a studded ballet flat, a signature of the label, and THIS STAR PRINTED DRESS WITH STUDDED LEATHER COLLAR OMG!!!

#ArtinMotion: Selly's UK Trip

TRAVEL AND STYLE HIGHLIGHTS FEATURING REDBUBBLE!

Just before I left for my trip, I packed some choice accessories. It seems I'm not the greatest at packing light (I am so, so sorry to all my hosts while abroad, for my stupidly heavy suitcase.) But the pieces with the biggest impact to my overall look each day, were actually the lightest. That's all thanks to the fine people at Redbubble and their gorgeous Art in Motion campaign: a new womens street style line, showcasing the work of some truly brilliant independent artists.

When I look back at one of my earliest blog posts featuring Redbubble, I feel that both this blog and the company have evolved by leaps and bounds, this latest collection being a perfect example of that.

Redbubble reached out to me about showcasing some pieces from their new collection. I saw my epic trip as the perfect opportunity to do just that. I wouldn't blog about something I didn't love, and it was love at first sight when I saw these pieces. The "Wings" butterfly pouch by Cassia and "Peacocks" scarf by Andrea Lauren--in addition to being stunning-- really resonated with me emotionally.

I felt that the butterflies represent the many facets of my personality, and were symbolic of my flying abroad, going on this journey, socializing all over the place. Bonus: The artist, Cassia, is in fact based in the UK!

My being a bag lady, I thought I'd prefer the larger pouch, but the smaller size not only ended up able to hold everything I needed : Passport, cash, phone, mirror, lipstick... even shades (!!); but the small scale also made it much more suitable for evening.

My first time ever in Sheffield. Good thing the guide to Sheffield fits perfectly into my pouch! You can grab yourself a guide --and a great cup of coffee-- at Cafe 9. You can even catch some live music there. Wednesdays you can also grab an amazing personal pie from Nether Edge Pizza.

The peacocks were also symbolic. I took their representation a step further when I wore the scarf out to tea and cake at the famed Maison Bertaux . The scarf and the place were me paying homage to The Girl at Midnight. A beautiful new YA Fantasy novel by the brilliant, violet haired Melissa Grey.

In a book about warring races of bird (Avicen) and dragon (Drakarin) people, one of the standout characters is the peacock feathered, Jasper. And this renowned French Patisserie in the heart of London--a location frequented by other leading characters, including the book's heroine, served as the perfect backdrop. One of many gorgeous scenes that played well against the accessories with their gorgeous, bright color palettes and whimsical motifs.

Have a look at some of the other places I took my Redbubble goodies to, and how I styled them!

Designer Glass Slippers for Every Cinderella

Why have one pair of glass slippers (they are so fragile, after all) when you can have 9?

"Cinderella is not only an iconic character when it comes to beauty, grace and fairytale love, but also shoes,"

- Christian Louboutin.

image

In 1998, Ferragamo created some magical must-have mules for Drew Barrymore in Ever After.  On a school trip to Florence, I got to see them up close at the Ferragamo museum. They were never mass produced.

In 2012, Christian Louboutin reimagined Cinderella's iconic heels to coincide with the release of the Diamond Edition of the film. They were every bit the blend of fairytale and fashion, baring crystal butterflies and his signature red soles.  20 pairs were produced and given away. Yes. Given. Away.

Now, in a most stunning and unprecedented collaboration, 9 fairy godmothers renowned footwear designers give us their interpretations of Cinderella's precious pumps. image

Diamonds, rhinestones, crystals, glitter... and a whole lot of pvc and imagination, are artfully assembled by names like Jimmy Choo, Nicholas Kirkwood, and Charlotte Olympia to bring us a pair for every taste.

The shoes will be available in March at famous luxury department stores like Harrods in London and Saks Fifth Avenue here in NYC, where the store will 'prominently feature the complete designer footwear collection as well as select props from the film, including costumes and spellbinding pumpkins' says Mark Briggs, Chief Marketing and Creative Officer at Saks in an interview with The Daily Mail UK.

Expect Saks to "bring back the magic in retail," in the first week of March. Then, we'll get to (spend all the money we don't have and) take a piece of the fairytale home with us.

Dreams do come true. We will go to the ball. And we'll dance till midnight and on.

Yohji Yamamoto X Evangelion

Yes, you read that right. Rep a beloved anime on designer duds.

World renowned high end designer Yohji Yamamoto is having some fun with this latest collection. A collaboration between his Ground Y label--a lower priced (but still $$$) offshoot of his eponymous brand-- and hit anime franchise  Evangelion.

The collection features some gorgeous structured jackets and printed button downs in addition to pants and a skirt, and some pretty cool kicks. And given the label's concept, I believe the collection is designed to be unisex. If you happen to be  in Tokyo when the collection launches this Friday, January 23rd, head on over to the Ground Y shop at Shibuya Parco (Part 1) and pick up one of these beautiful pieces.

To celebrate the collaboration, the brand has also installed three Evangelion figures in the shopping center.

For those of us who can't make it out there, we do have the option of going onto the brand's S'Yte (see what they did there?!) to pre-order this online only exclusive shirt.  A shirt? That's it? I mean, THE NERV.

But really friends, if you're in Japan.... I'll love you forever if you pick something up for me!
